Malawi: Traffic accident leaves 19 dead
(MENAFN) On Sunday, Aug. 1 19 persons as a minimum died in a traffic accident involving a coaster and two trucks that crashed in the early hours of Sunday in Malawi's central frontier district of Ntcheu.
The accident and the death of the 19 persons on Malawi’s backbone road, M1, affirmed spokesman for Ntcheu district council, Maston Kaiya.
The coaster with 27 women passengers heading to Chikwawa, a district down south, "is stuck underneath the truck" and "police and hospital emergency rescue team are already on site" after the incident, noted Kaiya in his account early on Sunday.
The spokesman was afraid that the death toll may increase as there are severe wounds sustained by the other passengers.
