EU condemns Baghdad terrorist attack

BRUSSELS, July 20 (KUNA) -- The EU Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in a busy market in Sadr City in Eastern Baghdad yesterday which was claimed by Da'esh, also known as the so-called Islamic State (IS), and which took numerous lives and injured many.
"We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured," said EU spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy Nabila Massrali in a statement.
"The European Union reiterates its full support to the Iraqi authorities in the fight against terrorism and its unflinching commitment to the work of the Global Coalition against Da'esh (IS)," it said.
The EU will continue to firmly stand by Iraq and its people in support of the country's security and stability, added the statement. (end)
