São Paulo – The international office of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, is working towards bringing the institution closer to all emirates of the country. The office executives are fulfilling the schedule of visits to different emirates. In recent days they have been received in some local chambers of commerce and industry, among them Ajman (pictured above) and Sharjah.

The visits were made by the head of the ABCC office in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo, and the advisor for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iraq and Yemen of the institution, Shaheen Ali Shaheen, who is an Emirati and has been an influential source of dialogue and connection between representatives of the Arab country and the ABCC.

At the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the two executives were welcomed by the organization's president, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais. The emirate of Sharjah has been growing in attracting events, including cultural and commercial shows aimed at the end consumer, and this was one of the conversation topics in the Sharjah Chamber. Solimeo believes that these events can represent opportunities for Brazilians.

The office head informs that Sharjah even has a fish festival called Dried Fish & Fishing, which sells, among other fish, salted cod, demonstrating a gastronomic custom similar to Brazil's, which developed it from its colonizing country, Portugal. ''The closer we get, the more we find similarities,'' says Solimeo.

At the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Solimeo and Shaheen were received by the institution's president, Abdullah Mohammed Al Muwajai. The emirate has an essential role in international trade, representing an opportunity for companies in Brazil, according to Solimeo. The emirate is home to seven Brazilian companies, including trading companies and business consultancies, as the office head informs.

With visits to every emirate, the ABCC intends to boost its representation throughout the country, appreciating the opportunities that exist in each region. Solimeo says that commerce chambers are the best way to talk to the private sector in the seven emirates and put them in contact with Brazilian companies. ''Each emirate is unique and has its opportunities,'' says Solimeo.

The UAE consists of seven emirates: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain. In most of them, the chambers of commerce have already been visited by ABCC representatives; others will be visited soon.
