Attendants Fight Over Oxygen Cylinder Distribution At SMHS

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar: Scuffle broke out between the attendants at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital on Saturday when they were distributing the oxygen cylinders themselves in the absence of proper arrangements by the authorities.

Officials said that no security arrangements have been put in place for the distribution of oxygen cylinders among the attendants for their patients.

A video has gone viral on social media, in which the attendants could be seen fighting over the distribution of the oxygen cylinders.

Medical Superintendent SMHS Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh in a statement said that some attendants attempted to snatch oxygen cylinders by illegally stopping the vehicle carrying bulk cylinders even before it had reached the store of the hospital.

'Other than Oxygen supply from the hospital Oxygen Generation plants, additional oxygen supply (wherever required) is made through bulk O2 cylinders to the patients as per prescription of the Doctor concerned. The Hospital also maintains buffer stock to meet any emergencies. SMHS Hospital administration has taken cognisance of the attempt at hoarding by some attendants. A police complaint has also been lodged in the matter,' he said.
