Australia's jobless rate declines to 6.6 pct

(MENAFN) With Australia's jobless rate declining to 6.6 percent, the country's revival from the COVID-19 pandemic has carried on.

50,000 Australians obtained employment between November and December of last year, leading to a 0.2 percent decline in jobless rate from 6.8 percent during November, showed statistics issued by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Thursday.

The jobless rate has dropped by nearly a full percentage point from a climax of 7.5 percent during July last year but still 1.5 percent higher than during December 2019.

It was another sign that the country's economic revival "is well underway," said Treasurer Josh Frydenberg on Thursday.
