Jordan- Deputizing for King, PM patronizes Arbor Day ceremony


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 14 (Petra) -- Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh Thursday patronized a ceremony marking Arbor Day, held at the Yajouz Forest and Forest Nursery.
During the tree-planting ceremony, the prime minister commended the agriculture ministry's afforestation plans and said protecting trees and forestlands is an all-encompassing national duty.
Minister of Agriculture Muhammad Dawoodiyah indicated that the ministry produces about 2 million forest trees and 650,000 fruit trees, noting that forestland area in the Kingdom stands at about 1.1 million donums.
