KUWAIT, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- The Cabinet held its weekly meeting at Seef Palace on Monday, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and hailed the outcome of the GCC 41st summit held in Saudi Arabia last week.
After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh made the following statement about the proceedings of the cabinet meeting: the cabinet expressed its utmost pleasure towards the outcome of the 41st GCC summit in Saudi Arabia.
On the matter, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr.Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah explained in details his participation with the Kuwaiti Delegation in GCC Summit, and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's speech in the summit, in which he expressed his gratitude to the efforts of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in resolving the gulf conflict.
In that context, the Prime Minister congratulated the Foreign Minister after the His Highness the Amir presented him at Bayan Palace on Wednesday with Order of Kuwait of the First Class, as recognition of Sheikh Dr. Ahmad's services to Kuwait and his efforts in bolstering relations with brethren in the Gulf and Arab regions.
On the other hand, Health Minister Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah explained to the Council the latest developments in the pandemic situation due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the global and regional levels and the precautionary measures taken to prevent the entry of the new strain of the Coronavirus into the country, which has spread to more than 30 countries in the world, and he also informed the council about the health situation in the country. And the ongoing steps to implement the vaccination plan against (Covid 19) according to the discussed plan.
The Council of Ministers called on all citizens and residents not to hesitate to receive the vaccine due to the seriousness of the health conditions after the rapid spread of the new strain, and to reach a safe return to normal life.
The Council also reviewed the recommendations received from the Ministerial Committee for Coronavirus Emergencies and the Cabinet decided the following:
1 - Allowing the importation of new domestic workers within the framework of the plan while adhering to the controls and requirements as of Sunday, Jan 17, 2021.
2 - Requiring those coming from all countries of the world to Kuwait to bring a PCR certificate proving the negative result of (COVID-19) before arriving to Kuwait within a period of no more than 72 hours (from the date of the examination) as of Sunday Jan 17, 2021.
3 - Charging airline companies with the cost of conducting a PCR examination upon arrival and during the quarantine period for all arrival flights to the country as of Sunday, Jan 17, 2021.
On a different matter, The Council of Ministers reviewed the second semi-annual report of the General Authority for Combating Corruption for the year 2019, which includes the efforts made by the Authority in the scope of detecting corruption, investigating, receiving financial disclosure and preventing and combating corruption.
The report also monitored the obstacles that encountered the work of the Authority in these areas, the negatives and the proposals it found.
The commission decided to overcome these obstacles and remove the causes of these negatives.
The Council of Ministers expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (NAZAHA) in order to implement its tasks to achieve the goals of the desired development plans, the results of which all citizens are looking forward to.
And in light of the announcement by the Committee of Prisoners and Missing Persons at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the fate of 13 martyrs of the prisoners and missing persons will be determined by identifying their identities through the continuation of the identification process through the genetic analysis of their fingerprints on the remains that were found and brought from Iraq, the Council offered its sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Kuwait.
The cabinet also praised the tireless efforts made by the Committee of Prisoners and Missing Affairs in order to obtain information Related to their burial sites in Iraq and securing the return of their remains to their homeland.
The Council of Ministers then discussed the latest political events on the Arab and international levels.
In this regard, the Council expressed its sincere condolences to the Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and to the friendly Indonesian people for the crash of a civilian airliner in North Jakarta and the death of all its passengers. (end)
