Jordan records 57 COVID-19 deaths, 5,123 cases Monday

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Health said Monday that 57 new deaths and 5,123 cases of coronavirus were recorded across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 2,751, and the total number of infections to 219,430.
The cases were: 1,804 in Irbid, 1,241 in the capital Amman, 626 in Mafraq, 353 in Karak, 245 in Jerash, 241 in Zarqa, 178 in Aqaba, 128 in Tafileh, 122 in Ajloun, 82 in Ma'an, 58 in Balqa and 45 in Madaba and, according to the media brief by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
It said that the number of active COVID-19 cases currently reached 61,653, while 228 were admitted to hospitals and 191 patients were discharged after their recovery.
According to the brief, a total of 1,941 cases are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, including 462 in intensive care.
It also said that 6,454 people infected with the virus, who were in self-quarantine at home or in isolation in hospitals, have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 155,026.
The ministry also said that 25,239 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 2,551,231, adding that the positivity rate for today reached about 20.3 percent.
It urged adherence to defense orders and following preventive measures, especially wearing masks, avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, using the "Aman" and "Your Health" apps, in addition to following up on an awareness campaign launched by the ministry for prevention from infection.
