GDP of Ireland declines 3 percent

Data published by the Irish Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Monday showed that the gross domestic product (GDP) of Ireland came in at 82.3 billion euros (USD97.2 billion) in Q2 of the current year, reporting a decline of 3 percent since the same quarter a year ago.

All sectors, excluding the industry sector in Ireland, posted yearly drops over the effect of coronavirus in the cited period, as the distribution, transport, hotels and restaurants sector saw a decline of 32 percent.

Yearly declines were seen in the sectors of construction, 34.6 percent, as the agriculture lost 46.9 percent while the professional & administrative services dropped 28.1 percent, arts & entertainment saw a drop of 67.9 percent.

The information & communication sector saw a loss of 4.3 percent as the sector of public administration, education and health exhibited a dropped 0.2 percent, the sectors of finance & insurance and real estate lost 3.7 percent and 4.4 percent respectively.
