UAE- Ras Al Khaimah closes wedding hall, imposes fine for Covid-19 violations


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ras Al Khaimah Economic Department on Friday closeda wedding hall and imposed a fine on it for not adhering to coronavirusprecautionary measures.

The authority said on its Instagram account that this due to the party holding a wedding celebration withthe required prior approvals; and not adhering to precautionary measures and instructions issued by the official authorities in the country in terms of social distancing and the obligation to wear masks.

The move follows a similar incident in Abu Dhabi on Friday where agroom, his father and the father of the bride were referred to the emergencies, crises and disasters prosecution after they were found to be organising and celebrating a wedding in violation of prescribed rules to curb the Covid-19 spread .

Legal action was also taken against all the guests who attended and took part in the function.

Abu Dhabi Police visiteda house where a wedding was being held in spite of the rules banning group gatherings and celebrations.

A Dh10,000 fine is imposed on anyone who organises, holds or invites others to a gathering or group celebration.

A Dh5,000 penalty is slapped on any individual who attends such gatherings.

Police urged the public to strictly adhere to social distancing and avoid family gatherings, while complying with anti-Covid measures.
