Jordan: Just, comprehensive peace conditioned by ending occupation

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 11 (Petra)-- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said, on Friday, that the essential step that capable of achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region has to come from Israel.
In a Foreign Ministry statement following the announcement of the Bahraini-Israeli agreement to normalise relations, Safadi said that such step will be achieved when Israel stops its measures that undermine the two-state solution, ends the illegal occupation of the Palestinian lands, and fulfills all the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
Safadi added that the Palestinian cause is the core of the conflict in the region, and a just and comprehensive peace is conditioned by ending the Israeli occupation, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital on the basis of the two-state solution in accordance with the international law, the Arab peace initiative, and the land for peace formula.
The minister said that the deal will be tied to Israel's actions in the post-agreement period, adding that the continuation of the occupation and its actions that ruin the foundations on which the peace process was based will deepen the conflict.
The Kingdom, Safadi stressed, is working jointly with brotherly and friendly countries to realise a just and comprehensive peace that will only be achieved once it is accepted by peoples.
