The top quality watchdog in China said that Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co. is going to take back 190,352 cars from the Chinese domestic market due to safety worries.

The State Administration for Market Regulation released a statement on its website saying that the recall is going to take place on the 15th of August, where Tiggo 5 SUVs that were made in the period from July 13, 2013 to Sept. 13, 2017 are going to be taken back.

High-pressure water could seep into the electronic control unit (ECU) of the defective vehicles as the car is being washed, control unit damages could result in the vehicles being unable to start, which can cause safety hazards.

The auto company said that it is going to place a water-resistant cover over the ECU, and replace the faulty ECUs for free, the statement said.
