(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 8 (Petra) -- The number of families benefiting from the social protection programs of the National Aid Fund (NAF), the Social Security Corporation and the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) is a tad shy of a million, the Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said Wednesday.
In a briefing at the Prime Ministry, Adaileh told journalists that the third tranche will be distributed to the beneficiaries of the Daily-Wage Earners program next week, which supports 250,000 families, at an estimate cost of JOD 27 million.
Also next week beneficiaries of the Complementary Support "Takafol" program, 55,000 families, will cash their support money, Adaileh said, noting that the amount of money designated for the program is JOD 14 million. Another program "Cash Assistance on Monthly Basis," will benefit a total of 105,000 families at a cost of JOD 9 million a month.
On COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by the novel and highly contagious coronavirus, the Minister said that no cases were recorded on Wednesday.
Also discussed was the funding program introduced by the CBJ to support companies and enterprises that have been impacted by the fallout of the coronavirus crisis as Adaileh said companies and institutions that had benefited from the program until 7/7/2020 reached 3,645.
They were funded with JOD 360 million, JOD 156 million of which were used to pay the salaries of 75,000 employees working in the companies, he said, pointing out that the government will incur the interests on the loans if they are used to pay employees their salaries.
He pointed out that the coronavirus pandemic has "major" economic impact on the world, Jordan is not excluded and that "it is obvious that states will review their fiscal policies and expenditure, and set their priorities against the backdrop of the current circumstances. Jordan is working on that, just like the majority of the states that have been harmed by the pandemic."
