Oman to increase anti-coronavirus measures
(MENAFN) Omani Minister of Health Ahmed Al-Saidi on Thursday called for firmer application of the measures to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
During the first four months of the coronavirus existence in the country, the number of infections was only 7,700, while in the last month alone, 27,000 infections were registered, Al-Saidi said at a video press meeting organized by the Supreme Committee tasked with confronting the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added, "In the last week alone, we reported more than 9,000 cases, 43 deaths, 420 cases admitted in hospitals and 114 cases in the intensive care units".
The minister said, "It is high time now to increase the severity of punishment, tighten control, and announce the names of those who violate the decisions of the Supreme Committee".
