Iran explores energy cooperation with Armenia


(MENAFN) Iran was confirmed to have entered discussions with Armenia, looking to reinforce cooperation in the field of energy, specifically strengthening the export of gas in exchange for import of power.

Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh engaged in a meeting on the matter with Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan.

Minister Zanganeh highlighted during the meeting the significance of the energy sector, saying that it is considered as a significant factor when it comes to economic ties between Iran and Armenia.

"Exporting Iranian gas to Armenia in exchange for receiving electricity (bartering gas with electricity) is part of the cooperation between the two countries," Zanganeh stated.
