Turkish forces detain over 250 illegal migrants in Izmir


(MENAFN) On Friday, Turkish security forces stated that as many as 251 illegal migrants were detained in Izmir province on Turkey's Aegean shore.

The migrants were detained by the Turkish Coast Guard while trying to cross into Europe by using rubber boats.

The undocumented migrants who were all later transferred to the provincial migration directorate were from Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Palestine, Iraq and Yemen.

Security forces also rounded up one suspected human smuggler.
