Somalia: roadside blast kills 3 in Shabelle


(MENAFN) On Saturday, as many as three people one of them is a local government official were murdered as a result of a roadside explosion took place along the road linking Bal'ad and Jowhar towns in Somalia's Middle Shabelle region.

The spokesperson of HirShabelle state Da'ud Haji Irro informed journalists an improvised explosive device (IED) suspected to have been put on the Gololey village blasted when a convoy carrying officials from the local authorities was passing over it.

Irro stated, "We can confirm the death of the deputy governor of finance of Middle Shabelle region Abdullahi Shatawe, former HirShabelle state trade minister Sabriye Osman and a local humanitarian activist Hassan Baldos".

Irro affirmed that security forces who were accompanying the officials shot dead a man emphasized to have been protecting the remote-controlled landmine.
