Kabul to Host Fifth Int'l Film Festival


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL- Kabul will host the Fifth International Women's Film Festival - Herat inwhich 200 films from around the world will be screened in local cinema halls.
Thirty-threefilms from Afghanistan will compete in the festival.
Fortymovies which were nominated for Oscar will also be screened in the festival.
Themovies will be screen in different cinema halls in Kabul, including Kahkashan,Ariana, and the central cinema hall at Kabul University.
Moreover,people in Bamiyan, Nangarhar and Herat will also watch the movies on smallscreens.
'Thefestival will showcase an unequal world, a world which is still not ready forjustice and equality, Afghan filmmaker Roya Sadat told reporters at a ceremonyin Kabul on Saturday.
Afghanfilmmakers welcomed the move and said it will help improve the film industry inAfghanistan.
'Anypositive step is for improvement of the culture, said Rokhshan Bani Etemad, afilmmaker.
'Weare making meaningful films. It means that we accept meaningful films and keepa little distance from commercial movies, former head of Afghan Film LatifAhmadi said. (Tolo news)
