Seven killed, four missing after ferry catches fire off Indonesia
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Seven people were killed and four others
were missing after a ferry caught fire off Indonesia's Sulawesi
island, state media reported on Saturday.
At least 61 people were rescued, provincial Police spokesman Agus
Mulyadi told the state news agency Antara.
The KM Izhar was travelling from Kendari, the capital of Southeast
Sulawesi province, to Salabangka when the fire broke out late Friday,
Antara said.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
Sea accidents are common in Indonesia, the world's largest
archipelagic country, where ferries play a vital role in connecting
the country's islands.
