Qatar Charity signs pact to establish integrated village in Kosovo

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) QNAQatar Charity (QC) has signed a cooperation agreement with the municipality of Mitrovica in Kosovo to build an integrated village for families suffering from poor economic conditions, at a total cost estimated at more than 2 million euros.

The agreement was signed by Director of Projects Management in QC, Khalid Abdullah Al Yafie, and Mayor of Mitrovica, Agim Bhatiri, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Kosovo, Ali bin Hamad Al Marri, and Deputy Minister of Interior of Kosova, Salami Shkodra.

The project, which will be built on an area of 3.27 hectares, includes 40 houses, a school, health clinic, service centre, mosque, shops and green spaces, providing an integrated environment.

Under the agreement, Qatar Charity contributes ¤1.5m of the total cost of the project, estimated at ¤2.25m, while the Municipality of Mitrovica contributes the balance being the cost of infrastructure. 6000 people are expected to benefit from the project. In a speech at the signing ceremony, Ali bin Hamad Al Marri underscored the strong relations between the two countries their peoples.

'We in the State of Qatar are keen to strengthen our relationship with Kosovo and give it great attention, he said.

'Today we are in this municipality to sign an agreement to implement an integrated social humanitarian project to serve our brothers in Kosovo, with whom we have outstanding relationships, he added.

For his part, Bhatiri expressed his pleasure at concluding this agreement. He also praised H H the Amir, government and people for their keen interest in assisting their brothers in Kosovo, praising the role of Qatar Charity in its cooperation and seriousness in previous projects.

It is noteworthy that the projects of Qatar Charity in Kosovo are covering different segments and diverse areas, most notably, the care of orphans and the disabled and families with limited income. Over 7500 People are benefiting from QC's Projects in the country.
