Morocco's national football team's coach, Herve Renard, has quit on Sunday, a few days after the team was booted out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, as reported by Xinhua.

The resigned coach has posted on his Facebook profile that "It is time for me to close this long and beautiful chapter of my life, not without some emotion and sadness, but it was an inevitable decision taken well before AFCON 2019".

He also added that "Morocco will always remain for me a country with which I lived incredible emotions," followed by "Nearly three-and-a-half years, intense moments shared with players that I sincerely love, a dedicated staff and all the Moroccan fans during this beautiful period".

Renard, being of French origins, had been Morocco's coach since 2016, working previously with Zambia and Cote d'Ivoire national teams, both of whom had won the Africa Cup of Nations.
