(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Sunday ordered that immediate procedures be taken to rectify government vehicle violations registered by the government's tracking system.
The premier pointed to the need penalise violators according to current legislation and without laxity, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The instructions were given after the prime minister reviewed a report on violations detected by the system, which included 15 cases of lost tracking devices and 63 cases of tampering.
The report revealed that 650 public vehicle violations were recorded between June 19 and June 25 — 542 of which were committed outside working hours.
Razzaz demanded the imposition of fines on those who lost their devices, in addition to referring those accused of tampering with the devices to the relevant judicial authorities.
The government will also confiscate all vehicles linked to devices that have been tampered with, before placing them in the custody of the General Supplies Department.
Legal action will be taken against those accused of using the vehicles without authorisation, outside working hours or without having obtained the required permits.
The aforementioned procedures are part of field visits organised to regulate the operation of government vehicles and hand excess vehicles to the Prime Ministry and the General Supplies Department at the Finance Ministry.
