Derivatives markets to go live in Kenya

(MENAFN) Kenya is ready to commence the derivatives markets starting next month following the conclusion of its plans.

Following the move, traded agreements will be under the NSE 25 Index along with seven blue chip stocks.

Manager of derivatives in the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Rufus Kariuki stated: "we also have in place two banks that will act as clearing houses for settling trading accounts and confirming trades in real time."

It comes after the NSE was presented last month with regulatory approval from the Capital Markets Authority for the introduction of Derivatives markets.
