(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) This is with reference to the story 'Long–time residents hail the citizenship move'.
Indeed it is a welcome news for all the long-time residents including me who has been in the sultanate for 27 years.
I have to frequently travel to many European and neighbouring countries for my professional work and I have no apprehensions to say that there is no other place in the world where one can feel at home than in the Sultanate of Oman.
However this citizenship move is not a new gesture. The sultanate has in the past too awarded citizenship to many expats. This law has been in existence the sultanate for a long time.
However, in the last couple of years the applications were not being entertained by the Ministry of Interior perhaps to clear the backlog.
All the rules for acquiring citizenship remain almost the same as in the past. It is a great move by the authorities to start accepting applications once again. I sincerely thank the authorities for this move.
