Bulgaria receives first American LNG shipment

(MENAFN) Bulgaria took delivery of its first acquisition of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States under an agreement that Bulgargaz, a state-owned gas company, secured.

Bulgargaz signed an agreement with Cheniere to buy a total of 140 million cubic meters of LNG to mark the first LNG purchase deal with the U.S.

Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova stated: "one of the main priorities of this Cabinet in the energy sector is the diversification of sources and routes of gas deliveries."

Petkova added: "one week after starting the construction of the Greece-Bulgaria inter-connector, natural gas from the US will enter into the Bulgarian gas grid."
