Afghan gov't forces release 10 civilians from Taliban prison
(MENAFN) A military source declared that the Afghan National Army commandoes carried out a raid and released 10 civilians from a Taliban jail in the country's northern province of Kunduz.
Ghulam Hazrat Karimi, spokesman of army Corps 217 Pamir based in the region confirmed: "The raid was launched in Aq Saray village, Chahar Dara district late Friday, and the building used by the Taliban as a detention center was destroyed by the security forces".
The civilians were taken to an army camp for identification operation before being provided accommodation and they would return to their families soon.
The militants guarding the facility escaped before the soldiers reached the site and the security force did not deploy their weapons during the mission, according to the source.
