Nepal holds meeting with Oman to send more skilled workers


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- A second joint committee meeting was held between Oman and Nepal in preparation to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to send more skilled workers to the sultanate in Kathmandu recently.
As per recent reports in the Himalayan Times, Ram Prasad Ghimire, joint secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Nepal said that their country has had fruitful negotiations with Oman to send workers.

The proposed MoU will not only look into workplace issues but shall also cover workplace safety, insurance and measures to prevent labour exploitation and equal treatment will be given to Nepali migrant workers including health insurance and other facilities.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, H E Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to Oman said, 'This is a very good move from both the governments. There are almost 20,000 Nepalis who work in the sultanate and we are happy that such an MoU shall be a boost to our community.'

'Nepalis are known for their hard work and skilled performance. This is a win-win situation for both the countries and the workers and benefit everyone. Also such a step shall protect our people from exploitation and will ensure more safety. 'Oman is in need of more skilled people and we are here to be part of the country's development,' she added.
