Oman may fast for 15 hours Iceland for 20

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Muslims all over the world are fasting during Ramadan. The holy month is observed across six continents and spans time zones in every corner of the world.
Fasting hours differ considerably, with some countries fasting for as long as 21 hours, while some fasting less than 11 hours a day. Even with fasting hours lengthening over the month, statistics show that the country with the longest fast is Iceland, clocking 20 hours from 2.45am for Fajr till 10.10pm for Maghrib. Oman clocks in nearly 15 hours.

People in Finland, Greenland, Norway and Sweden fast for around 19 hours. On the other end of the spectrum, the country with the shortest fast is Chile, with only around ten hours of fast. That's a difference of over ten hours from Iceland's time. Other countries with less than 12 hours a day of fasting are New Zealand and South Africa with around 11 hours while Brazil and Australia fast for almost 12 hours. In Oman, the hot, long summer days bring more challenges for outdoor workers to observe fast as temperatures top 40°C.

Clerics said it is ok to break the fast in such circumstances.
