KUWAIT, May 4 (KUNA) -- 1959 -- The first Kuwaiti oil tanker "Kazma" docked at the northern terminal of Al-Ahmadi Port. The 46,000-ton ship was built by Japan in 1958.
1961 -- The police and public security directorate called the people of Kuwait to report to the citizenship office.
1969 -- Enrique Quintana presents his credentials as Argentina's first Ambassador to Kuwait.
1969 -- Musician Awad Salim who was famous for many traditional songs passes away at the age of 65.
1999 -- MP Abbas Al-Khudhari's grilling of Justice Minister and Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Minister Ahmad Al-Kulaib was discussed. The grilling focused on misprints in the Holy Quran. Two requests for a vote of confidence are submitted the same day before the National Assembly is dissolved.
1999 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah orders a constitutional dissolution of the National Assembly citing excessive use of constitutional powers by some MPs in violation of the norms and traditions of the Kuwaiti society.
2001 -- Kuwaiti sharpshooter Hamad Al-Afasi wins a world championship in the individual double trap category in Cairo.
2001 -- Kuwaiti actress Saud Abdullah is chosen as the first representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to Kuwait. 2002 -- Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurates the theater of late Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Kuwait University (KU).
2004 -- GCC Ministers of Interior sign, in Kuwait, the security agreement on counter-terrorism and approve the decision to allow movement of GCC citizens within member states using personal ID cards only.
2004 -- MP Hussain Al-Qallaf's grilling of Health Minister Dr. Mohammad Al-Jarallah is discussed. Al-Qallaf accused Al-Jarallah of undue treatment of national expertise, as well as administrative, financial, and human rights violations, and wasting public funds, and was also criticized for failure to answer parliamentary questions. The session ends without request of a vote of confidence.
2004 -- The Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurates the 22,500-squaremeters Ali Al-Ghanim and Sons Company car showroom, the world's largest auto showroom.
2010 -- "Awan" newspaper stopped being published after 886 issues due to lack of finances.
2011 -- The healthcare hospital opened in Al-Sabah medical area. The facility cost over KD five million.
2014 -- Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim accepted resignation of MPs Safa Al-Hashim and Ali Al-Rashed. (end) mb
