ABYAN, 12th April, 2019 (WAM) -- The UAE has inaugurated the second phase of the water project in the Lawdar District of Abyan Governorate in Yemen.
The project's second phase, which is being supervised by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, involved drilling four wells and construction of water tanks each with a capacity of 250 cubic metre.
The ERC said the third and final phase will involve the extension of main water pipelines stretching more than three million kilometres between Sirt Al Nakhaein and Lawder city.
Director General of Lawder District Awad Al Nakhae said the project would provide drinking water to 30,000 people in the district.
The UAE also supplied water to mosques and households in the city.
