Kuwaiti, European lawmakers discuss issues of common concern

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, April 11 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti National Assembly's foreign affairs committee discussed here on Thursday some issues of common concern with Member of the European Parliament Michelle Alliot-Marie.

During the meeting, the Kuwaiti delegation, headed by MP Abdulkarim Al-Kandari, stressed that the visit aims to develop relations between the Kuwaiti and European parliaments, mainly the French group as it has a status in the European Union (EU).

It lauded the deep-rooted and distinguished ties between Kuwait and France on all levels, calling for developing and promoting them.

The meeting between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the French national Alliot-Marie last December in Kuwait affirms His Highness the Amir's keenness on being acquainted with the latest developments on the international arena, the delegation noted.

The two sides discussed today the Gulf crisis and His Highness the Amir's efforts to heal this rift.

On regional level, they emphasized Kuwait's role and efforts in safeguarding security and maintaining stability of Iraq as well as contributions to the reconstruction of that Arab country.

The delegation referred to Kuwait's supportive role to security and unity of Yemen in the face of challenges and tough exceptional conditions facing the country.
