Emirati man famous for singing Filipino songs
Fahed Ablooshi, who is a 30-year-old Abu Dhabi-based banker, was born to an Emirati father and a Filipino mother. His father hails from Abu Dhabi while his mother is from Pangasinan, Philippines. Ablooshi has only visited the Philippines twice, but learned how to speak Filipino through karaoke, Khaleej Times reported.
Ablooshi sings songs by famous Filipino artists such as Jessa Zaragoza. He said said he started singing when he was a kid and learned the Filipino language only through song.
"Whenever my mom brought her friends over, I would perform for them," Ablooshi said.
The Emirati runs his own vlog called Emaratino, where he shares his adventures of learning about Filipino and Emirati cultures and his encounters with Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates. Ablooshi said he hopes to build a bridge between Filipino and Emirati cultures through his vlog.
"What I like about Filipinos are their strong families ties and acceptance. With Emiratis, I like the openness, the respect and generosity. My biggest dream is to bring these two great cultures together," he said.
Ablooshi performed with Filipina singer KZ Tandingan when she went to the UAE. The two sang a Filipino song and Ablooshi spoke to the crowd in Filipino. The video of their performance gained more than 20,000 views on Facebook.
