Qatar, Italy to deepen cooperation


(MENAFN) Qatar explored with Italy means to strengthen bilateral relations in various areas, including economy, investment and defense.

Discussions were held between Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Wednesday.

A royal court statement confirmed that "the Emir of Qatar held an official session of talks with Italy's Prime Minister Conte and took up regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly developments in Libya."

Following their talks, the Italian prime minister assured that both his country and Qatar are looking to achieve stability within the north African area, particularly in Libya.

Conte, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), was received in Doha Tuesday night as he headed on an official trip to the GCC state.
