Two US soldiers killed in operation in Afghanistan
The US and NATO Resolute Support mission furthered the Americans were killed while conducting an operation on Friday, but did not provide further information about the exact location and type of the operation.
In accordance with US Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members killed in action were being withheld until after notification of the next of kin, it said.
The statement didn't specify the location of the combat or say who the soldiers were fighting or whether it was a joint operation with Afghan forces or not.
There are about 14,000 US forces in Afghanistan, supporting Afghan forces and conducting counter-terrorism operations against Taliban, ISI, al-Qaeda and some other terrorist groups.
The US forces support Afghan operations mostly with their air support to respond to the increasing attacks of the Taliban.
