Iran bans Boeing 737 Max from airspace

(MENAFN) Iran's Civil Aviation Organization grounded on Friday Boeing 737 Max aircraft from its airspace, joining a ban multiple countries from all around the world imposed.

Civil Aviation Organization official Reza Jafarzadeh announced "a ban on the passage of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft through Iran's sky has been issued as other countries have decided to do so."

It comes after two crashes involving Boeing 737 Max occurred over a period of five months, with the latest one taking the life of over 150 people.

Iran only banned Boeing 737 Max 8 since it does not own the aircraft because of sanctions the United States slapped the Islamic Republic with.
