Arab League warns of child labor
Cairo, March 7 (Petra) -- The Arab League on Thursday warned that the issue of child labor is getting more dangerous in light of the terror and war conflicts many countries in the region are suffering from.
The pan-Arab organization warned of the gravity of the issue of child labor which is a "systematic violence" against children that deprives them from their basic rights to lead a normal life.
During a ceremony dubbed, "The Labor of Children in the Arab Countries," Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the Arab League has been keen for years to addressing children-related issues in the Arab world to protect the children's rights.
He said that children's legitimate rights are guaranteed in regional and international agreements, foremost of which is the Convention on the Rights of the Child that all the Arab countries adopted, and the International Labour Organization's agreements, in addition to the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," which world leaders adopted in the historic United Nations Summit in September 2015.
