Dubai's DP World opens center to hike Berbera water capacity

(MENAFN) Dubai-based DP World announced the inauguration of a water distribution center aimed at growing the amount of water provided in Berbera, Somaliland.

Under the USD1 million initiative which was launched last year, the UAE operator will achieve a 60 percent jump in the supply of water.

The project was confirmed to be featuring four water wells along with a couple of shallow pools, two water troughs, and a single concrete reservoir tank with a seven kilometer pipeline.

"This support for Berbera is part of our commitment to help develop the areas in which we operate, and we are confident this project will have important benefits for many people across the region," stated DP World CEO and Managing Director Suhail Al Banna.

"We are committed to ensuring everything we do leaves long term benefit for people in Somaliland and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the Somaliland authorities and people to help improve the quality of life through key infrastructure and sustainability projects," Al Banna added.
