Iran appoints female ambassador to Brunei


(MENAFN) Homeira Rigi, the 3rd female Iranian ambassador, encountered Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif before departure for Brunei's capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan.

Rigi, a Baluchi Sunni woman who was lately selected as Iran's new ambassador to Brunei, is substituting Abdolhamid Fekri in Iran's diplomatic mission in the tiny country of the Southeastern Asia.

The first female Iranian ambassador was Marziyeh Afkham who was the spokesperson of foreign ministry before being sent off to Malaysia.

The second female Iranian ambassador was Parvin Farshchi who went to Helsinki to head Iran's diplomatic mission in Finland.
