Thousands gather as Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2019 begins

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) As always, tens and thousands participated in the 20th edition of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon.

The winners in the 42.195km run in the male and female category has been announced.

People have flocked from all over the world to run the 42.195km stretch of road in Jumeirah.

The #DubaiMarathon 4K: Traffic will be halted on Umm Suqeim Street next to the Dubai Police intersection, the Madinat Jumeirah intersection, and King Salman Abdul Aziz Al Saud Street.

The marathon route will start on Umm Suqeim Road at Madinat Jumeirah, turn left onto the left-hand side of the carriageway, then head up Al Sufouh and past Dubai College Junction.

Runners will pass the entrance to Palm Island on the other side, pass the Dubai Media City entrance and U-turn back at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi traffic lights.

They will then head back along Al Sufouh, past the Madinat Jumeirah onto the Jumeirah Beach Road running past the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Runners will head up the Jumeirah Beach Road on the left carriageway towards the new bridge at the Creek.

They will U-turn at Al Mehemal junction just before the bridge, heading back to the Madinat Jumeirah junction and then doing this same exact section again.

After completing the same lap a second time of the Jumeirah Beach Road section, runners will turn left after the Burj Al Arab at the Madinat Jumeirah junction running along Umm Suqeim Road for 500m heading to the finish line before the Dubai Police Academy.
