Sri Lanka- Probe launched on prison assault video being leaked
(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) An investigation has been launched on how a CCTV video of an assault on inmates of the Agunukolapelessa prison was leaked recently.
The leaked video had revealed an incident at the Agunukolapelessa prison where several inmates had been lined up and assaulted by prison guards.
The Committee for Protecting Prisoners' Rights released the video at a media conference this week.
The Committee for Protecting Prisoners' Rights said that the assault had taken place following a protest staged by the inmates.
The date stamp on the CCTV video shows as November 11, 2018.
While an investigation on the assault has been launched, the Justice Ministry said today that an investigation has also been launched as to how the video was leaked. (Colombo Gazette)
