Moroccan El Baaj chosen as int'l court judge


(MENAFN) Moroccan Mustapha El Baaj was chosen to become the next judge to the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.

Moroccan jurist El Baaj secured 99 votes to be elected by the UN General Assembly to the court which tackles cases the UN tribunals left over.

Swiss Guenael Mettraux lost the vote which was carried out early Tuesday to claim only 86 votes in the session.

Following the last vote, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals now has all of its judges chosen after Turkish Yusuf Aksar was picked in December.
