Dubai, UAE, January 08, 2019: Get ready for an action-packed week in Abu Dhabi as the prestigious Al Shira'aa International Horse Show kicks off an equestrian extravaganza this week starting on Wednesday and concluding on Saturday with the jaw-dropping competition that is the Longines Al Shira'aa Grand Prix. This show is sponsored by official timekeeper and showjumping partner, Longines, and supported by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) and Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC).
The fifth international show of the season takes place over four days in Al Forsan International Sports Resort and is set to attract some of the biggest names the showjumping world has to offer. Riders will be pressed to clear jumps ranging from heights of 115cm to 160cm as they speed around the arena to beat the clock. Some of the faces from the Middle East to look out for include KSA's Olympic bronze medalist, Ramzy Al Duhami and his No.8-ranked compatriot, Abdullah Al Sharbatly, as well as the UAE's Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum. There is even a new competition on Friday that you won't want to miss: The Emirates Motor Company Al Shira'aa Derby is a first in the region and will feature different types of fences ranging from ditches, banks and hedges, that will see only the most daring and brilliant of rider/ horse combos compete.
The Al Shira'aa International Horse Show promises to be an eventful day for the entire family with its Al Shira'aa Village! Activities range from pony rides, a craft station for children, face painting, a musician, a photo booth, a demonstration from Parkour DXB, and a 90-minute dog agility show for guests to enjoy. There are also numerous food trucks and tack shop pop-up stands for you to browse the latest in equine fashion and equipment trends.
