Netflix is always on the lookout for new and exciting content to strengthen its viewer base and cement its position as a premiere streaming giant, amid the increasing competition.

To this extent, it is going to add a new true crime series to its already rich roster and will focus on one of America's most notorious serial killers, Ted Bundy.

Emmy winner Berlinger roped in for directing the series

The new series is titled Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. It will be directed by Emmy award winner Joe Berlinger, considered to be a pioneer in the true crime documentaries genre.

Notably, Berlinger has already directed a narrative feature starring Zac Efron as Bundy, titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, scheduled to premiere at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival.

The new series is set to air on January 24, 2019.

The four-part series will depend heavily on the interview tapes with Bundy during his time on death row in Florida.

The show promises previously unheard audio from these interviews while exploring the increasing mystique of Bundy during his capture and his marriage to former co-worker, Carol Ann Boone, during one of his trials.
