Promoting 2010 batch of Omani govt staff will cost RO70mn annually: MoF
This was revealed by H E Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, Undersecretary in MoF, at the First Sustainability Conference held at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre on Tuesday. 'The cost of promoting the 2010 batch of government employees is estimated at RO70mn for one year,' H E Jashmi said.
He noted that the promotions, according to the decision of the Council of Ministers started as of November 1, 2018.In October, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said had issued a Royal Directive to promote the 2010 batch of Omani government employees.
The Council of Ministers had said, 'Within the context of continuous attention of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the people of this dear homeland and his keenness to provide suitable conditions for all that might achieve public interest, His Majesty the Sultan issued the Royal Directive to promote the 2010 batch of Omani state (government) employees.'Accordingly, the Council of Ministers, (in a session on October 7, 2018), tasked the departments concerned to undertake all necessary measures to implement the Royal Directive.
So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Public Authority for Radio and Television and the Ministry of Civil Service, according to statements issued by the respective ministers, have already started the procedure to promote their employees.
