Letter: There are only two sexes

(MENAFN- Caribbean News Now) Dear Sir:

The Trinidad and Tobago Council of Evangelical Churches denounces the stipulation in the Gender Equality Protocol for Judicial Officers launched on Tuesday, 27 November, that "transgender persons must be referred to by the pronoun of their choice," as stated in a Daily Express article - ‘Protect Transgender Inmates' on Wednesday, 28 November.

Moreover, it denounces the guideline that the group in question "should be allowed physical access to the court regardless of if they are dressed in accordance with personal views on how a person of their sex ought to dress," again, as explained in the article.

The council maintains that God created only two genders, as made clear in Genesis 1:27. Therefore, it is in no way supportive of the misuse of pronouns to satisfy the demands of this group when no such gender category exists. Furthermore, it is concerned that soon this misuse of pronouns will spill over into our schools. It is only a matter of time at the rate that this issue is progressing.

The council states, with no reserve, that it will in no way stand by and allow that to happen. Whether through litigation or peaceful protests, it will resist.

Additionally, it is not in support of the judiciary allowing these individuals to dress in accordance with the sex with which they identify. Again, God created only two sexes – male and female. Furthermore, as correct science has made clear, one's gender is rooted in biology.

In fact, this pandering of the judiciary to this group, and by extension, the LGBTQIA community, is disheartening. Trinidad and Tobago has already taken a severe moral blow with the rewriting of sections 13 and 16 of the Sexual Offences Act, which legalized sex between consenting adults of the same gender, and now this?

As Proverbs 14:34 states, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people." Therefore, this is just another "nail in the coffin" for this country.

We therefore urge that these stipulations in the Protocol be trashed immediately.
