Kuwait Heritage Week kicks off in Sharjah


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) SHARJAH, UAE, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Heritage Week kicked off in UAE's Emirate of Sharjah Monday, part of the Global Heritage Weeks organized by Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH).
Kuwait's veteran actors Saad Al-Faraj and Mohammad Al-Mansour, as wellas singer Mustafa Ahmad were guests of honor.
Kuwait Consul General in Dubai Theyab Al-Rashidi thanked the Government of Sharjah for hosting Kuwait Herirage Week. "This is a living example of the solid relations between Kuwaiti and Emirati people, who share strong social and cultural bonds," he added.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Rashidi spoke highly of Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al-Qassemi for his contributions to revive the Gulf tradition.
Sheikh Sultan's financial and moral support help maintain vibrant nature of the Gulf tradition, he said.
President of SIH Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam said Kuwait Heritage Week showed how art and culture of Kuwait were engraved in hearts and minds of the Emirati people. "Our memories in culture, art and education are strongly linked with Kuwait, and we are keen on highlighting this tradition," he told KUNA.
"Kuwait has deep and diverse heritage," he said, and the Heritage week "is a chance for the public to get acquainted first-hand with tradition of our Kuwaiti brothers." Kuwait Heritage Week includes a display of wooden ships, traditional clothes and food, music and paintings. (end) smr.bs
