Voting process yet to begin in some Kabul polling stations

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Some residents of the capital of Kabul say the voting process in some polling station has not yet began.

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) had said the ballot process would formally begin at 7:00 am on Saturday throughout the country but at 08:04 the voting process has not begun.

Some reports reached to Pajhwok Afghan News said the voting processes in most of the polling station have not begun.

Anis Rahman, the resident of 5th block in the Ahamd Sha Baba township, said: €œThis morning dozens of people have arrived to the polling stations 7:00 but the process of voting has not begun until 7:30 as a result the people went back and did not cast their vote.

Abdul Matin, another resident of the Bagrami district, told Pajhwok they have visited the polling station at 7:00 in Abdul Shakor Reshad high school but were not allowed to cast their vote.

Azam Jan, another resident of the Marim Lesi area of Kabul city, said their polling station did not open until 7:45 and the IEC€™s official told them the center might start operation at 8:00.

Ibrahim, the resident of Dasht-i-Barchi area in the neighborhood of Kabul city, said as they have been waiting from the past one hour but still the center did not start its operation.

He said people might not wait no longer in this situation and urged the polling stations have to start its operations at time.

In same area at the Imam Khaimani masque residents also said ballot process might start their operation at 9:00.

On the other hand, people of central Logar and southwestern Nimroz had expressed similar concerned and added the ballot process did not start on time.

Meanwhile, Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi, IEC deputy spokesman also confirmed the issue and added it was due to weak management.
