Ashgabat to host World Weightlifting Championship

The World Weightlifting Championship will take place in Ashgabat from October 28 to November 10, 2018, Turkmen TV channel Altyn Asyr reported on Oct. 20.
Some 100 countries (9 African, 38 European, 29 Asian, 15 American and 9 Oceanian countries) have applied to participate in the competition. Approximately 800 foreign athletes are expected to arrive, and in general, 1,500 representatives from different countries, including judicial brigades and journalists.
Work is underway to develop the championship's website and the participant's accreditation.
The large-scale construction project of the Olympic town in Ashgabat was implemented by the Turkish Polimeks Insaat Taahhut ve Sanayi Ticaret A.S.
