
Oman- Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to set up ramp at Lima port to facilitate ferrying of vehicles
Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries project which costs around RO599,900 will facilitate transportation of vehicles from Lima to other wilayats by the National Ferries Company (NFC). The project aims to promote tourism movement and linking Lima with other wilayats.
It also aims to assist fishermen to transport fish from the port of Lima to local and overseas markets. It will raise the standard of living of fishermen and increase fish production and provide additional employment opportunities for the people of Lima.Mehdi bin Mohammed al Abduwani, chairman of NFC said, 'The project is an important step to support the national economy and increase tourism traffic. Ferry trips to Lima began in 2011. These trips linked Lima with some other wilayats such as Khasab, Shinas and Dibba.
'NFC currently carries out 14 trips a week from Lima to other wilayats. We transported more than 16,900 passengers until the end of August.'
