Kuwait FM meets Libyan counterpart


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah met Libya's Foreign Minister Mohamed Taher Siala on the fringes of his attendance of the United Nations General Assembly on Sunday.
During the talks, held at the Kuwaiti mission in New York, the Kuwaiti minister reiterated Kuwait's firm stance and unwavering support for efforts aimed at regaining security and stability in Libya.
These efforts include encouraging all sides to commit to a ceasefire and end their conflict in the capital, Tripoli.
The minister hailed the efforts, to bridge the gap between the opposing sides, assumed by the United Nations special envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame.
For his part, the Libyan minister expressed gratitude and appreciation for the support extended by Kuwait to the Libyan people, including its role at the UN Security Council, and its commitment to the stabilization of Libya's political and security situation.
Assistant Foreign Minister for the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister's Office Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Gulf Cooperation Council Affairs Nasser Al-Mezayyin, Kuwait's Permanent UN Representative Mansour Al-Otaibi and Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisations and Minister Plenipotentiary Nasser Al-Hain also attended the discussions.
